iv/5-195pp., complete, with 34 engraved original colour plates, coloured foredges, original contemporary gilt half calf, oblong 8vo Italian style, marbled covers. Beautiful and VERY RARE copy. (OCLC lists only Yale and the National Library of New Zealand).

Third edition. With 34 original colour engravings outside the text including a frontispiece engraving and the title page. This third edition was augmented by four engravings containing maps of the four continents Europe, Asia, Africa, America with a composition of animals living on each of the continents, engraved in original colour, a set of 28 original colour engravings of the types of inhabitants from the different regions of the world. [including the plate of Habitants de Philippines and Australie]. Printed by Imprimerie Casimir, rue de Vielle-Monnaie, n°12.

Condition

scuffed, a bit worn, some page foxing, few pages with folding marks, still a good copy.
