Chapter V [5]: Bemerkungen über Manila die Hauptstadt der Philippinen-Insel Luçon, von George Bennet, Nouvelles Annales des Voyages etc. 1833 August- und September Heft , S. 234 pp. British born Bennett, a medical doctor and naturalist, eventually settled in Australia in 1834. His most well-known writing being “Wanderings in New South Wales, London 1834. Apparently, the Manila visit occurred on one of his early return trips from Australia enroute to London, entering through the San Bernadino Strait.. One of his Manila articles appeared in The London Medical Gazette [8, 1831, pp522-26]:”On the Edpidemic Catarrh or Influenza, Which Prevailed iat Manila (Island of Luconia) During the Month of September 1830”.
