Description
209pp., hardbound, 2 original-colour maps of the Philippines and Mindanao & 34 anthropology plates. EXTREMELY RARE. Virtually impossible to find book, based on the “Archives des Missions Scientifiques et Littéraires” – vol.11. Joseph Montano, Doctor of Medicine and Anthropologist, visited Singapore, Malacca, Manila, Luzon, Batangas, Legaspi, Albay, the Calamian Archipelago, Puerto- Princesa (Palawan), Balabac, Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu, Sandakan, Mindanao, Davao, Surigao, etc. Montano, who was accompanied by the botanist Paul Rey, gave a very careful anthropological and linguistic description of the populations of the regions crossed. The fever shortened the two scientists’ journey, preventing them from going to the north of Luzon, as they had planned.
