In celebration of the forthcoming Chinese New Year
the Gallery of Prints presents an Exhibition of Antique Prints and Maps

“China and the Chinese in the Philippines”

For centuries, China has been interacting with the Philippines, and many travellers
and voyagers depicted the role of the Chinese in Manila and elsewhere in the
Archipelago. In lithographs and engravings – some extremely rare – the Galacticals, as
the British would call the Chinese, are shown in daily life, in Escolta, in the market, in
the countryside and we see how Spaniards and the Western World would look at them.

Exhibit Period: 15th January 2019 – 28 February 2019
