Two EXTREMELY RARE views on one sheet from “Voyage autour du Monde… l’Empereur Nicolas I.er. sur la Corvette Le Séniavine… pendant les annees 1826, 1827, 1828 & 1829, Partie historique”; this pl.48 of the Atlas, was printed by Engelmann et Compagnie in Paris (with some lithos by their successors Thierry Freres) and is one of the rarest of all the Philippine litho plates, “the atlas gives superb impressions of the magnificent views of native life and scenery … which, sincer their issuance more than a century ago, have never been surpassed either in importance or beauty” (Hill Coll.).
