RARE map in great original colour, from ‘Atlas Maior’, published in Amsterdam from 1606 onwards, French edition. A re-issue of Mercator’s ‘Tabulae geographiae’ and one of the finest early maps of the region. Early 1600s, upon his return to Holland, Hondius bought Mercator’s plates, adding 36 of his own to reissue the ‘Atlas’.
