A very nice pre-Revolutionary War era magazine from the “mother country” with a wide range of varied content. This was the first periodical to use the word “magazine” in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907. Included within this issue are: “Account of a Work relating to unborn Children,” referring to Cangiamila’s Sacred Embryology, which focuses on Caesaran operations and the ensoulment of unborn babies.
Other articles are:
“Account of the Taking of Manila” = pp. 171-179 [British Occupation]; to accompany the map ‘An Accurate Map of the Philippine Islands’ by George Rollos [lacking when bought];
“Account of Revolution in the East Indies” = pp. 166-171;
“Extract from the Journal of an Officer at the Havannah, containing some Interesting Particulars of the Siege…” which is concerning Havana, Cuba and takes over two pages…;
“Treaty between Berlin, Vienna and Poland”, “A Scheme to Prevent Smuggling”; “A Letter concerning the Resignation of Prime Minister Lord Bute”; literary criticism, poetry, notices and deaths, etc.
