Description
original hand-colour copper engraving map from ‘Atlas Novus……Tabulae Geographicae’, plate no. 7.
After serving an apprenticeship to Johann Baptiste Homann, the Nuremberg map publisher, Seutter (1678-1756) set up his own very successful business in Augsburg & was appointed Geographer to the Imperial Court. For much of his life he worked in competition with his old employer, & his maps are often very similar to those of Homann.
