Description

112pp., hardbound, original dark green cloth over boards, with title and Forestry Bureau Symbol in gilt, illustrated with 43 plates (42 chromolithograph colour plates, 1 black & white). EXTREMELY RARE.

Magnificent 1st edition, writing during 1899/1900, published 1901 with his foreword dated January 2, 1901. The definite encyclopedic summary of Philippine timber trees – a great collector’s pride with stunning colour rendition – a prime book made in the Philippines.

Condition

R J Kowal’s copy (author of books on insects) with his ownership signature. As was the case with the only other two tomes we encountered in 40 years, due to the format and weight, book block moves some, but binding still holding; otherwise internally very good, specially the lithos show only 1 offsetting on opposite page.
